DIG for Thursday the 7th of February…..a saint, without blemish and blameless; yes, that’s you and that’s good news…..Colossians 1 v 22

You should know by now that I love the way Paul describes Jesus to the Colossians; it is my favourite epistle.

I also love the way he describes me and you (if you are a born again believer).

Colossians 1 v 22 describes how God sees us if we have faith in His Son.

He says we are holy and unblameable and unreproveable in His sight.

You are holy and blameless as you stand before Him without a single fault is what the New Living Translation writes.

Holy could be translated as saint.

God no longer sees you as a sinner, He sees you as a saint.

He no longer sees your sin, He sees you without a blemish and faultless.

This is not because of your works but because of Jesus and your faith in Him and His finished work.

Right now through the marvellous work of Jesus (i.e. His death and resurrection) you are a saint and faultless in the eyes of God; do you believe that?

Please believe this; it is the truth, it is the good news, it is the gospel.

Speak this out today…..”Thank you Lord that I am a saint, without blemish and faultless in your sight”.

DIG for Wednesday the 6th of February…..one of the best descriptions of Christ in scripture…..Colossians 1 v 17

As I wrote yesterday Paul wrote to the Colossians to remind them of the centrality of Christ and His finished work to the gospel; indeed Jesus is the true gospel.

Any other “gospel” is not the true gospel.

As believers we need to immerse ourselves in Jesus, who He was and what He did.

Colossians 1 and 2 is a great place to go for these truths; it is one of the best descriptions of Christ in the whole of scripture and is a portion of the Word that I return to again and again.

It is written that He is before all things; He is eternal and is God.

It is written that He made peace through the blood of His cross; by HIs finished work we are justified and forgiven.

It is written that all things were created by Him; He was the agent of creation yet He came to earth and gave His life for you.

It is written that by Him all things consist; He holds the universe and all life in it together.

Colossians is like a box of treasure, full of marvellous truths about Jesus.

Throw yourself into these Scriptures today.

Speak this out…..”Thank you Lord for your Word and thank you for the true gospel in Jesus”.
