These words of Jesus come in the middle of the account of the raising of Lazarus, one of the most powerful miracles of Jesus.
Lazarus had been dead for a number of days; his sister Martha said that Lazarus would be stinking (John 11 v 39), he had been dead that long!
There is nothing impossible for Jesus however and we see Lazarus raised from the dead (John 11 v 43 and 44).
Jesus’ power brought Lazarus back from the dead.
Jesus’ power will do the same for us, unless of course we are still alive at His second coming!
We will all die physically yet will be resurrected to eternal life with God because of our faith and trust in the finished work of Jesus on the cross.
Jesus says everyone who believes on Him will live, even though they were dead (John 11 v 25).
Spiritually we will never die (John 11 v 26).
We have access to this eternal life simply because of our belief in Jesus; no works or good deeds are required. We simply believe in Him!
