The provision of the Lord is bountiful and abundant; we saw that yesterday when we looked at Philippians 4 v 19.
There are many examples of how abundant the provision of the Lord is and one of my favourites is when Jesus turned the water into wine at the wedding in Cana.
Jesus turned water into wine in 6 water pots, each pot being 2 or 3 firkins (John 2 v 6).
A firkin is about 41 litres, so the minimum amount of wine provided by Jesus was 492 litres (or 656 normal sized bottles) but it could have been a lot more; in any ones view that is a lot of wine.
And it was good wine; we see that when the ruler tasted the wine (John 2 v 10).
Not only was the wine plentiful but it was also good, it was the best.
The provision of the Lord is like that too, not only is it abundant and plentiful but it is the best.
Of course it is the best, as it is provided out of the riches of his glory though Christ Jesus (Philippians 4 v 19).
Jesus came so that we might have life in abundance (John 10 v 10), and a life that is lived in health and prosperity (3 John v 2).
His provision is extravagant; I said in the sermon toady that His provision is almost silly in how abundant it is.
We have been given all that we need spiritually and physically already through the finished work of Jesus Christ (Ephesians 1 v 3 and Philippians 4 v 19).
We truly are a blessed people in the provision that He has for every single one of us.
Speak this out today…..”Thank you Lord for all that you have already provided for me through the finished work of Jesus Christ”.
John 2 v 6……And there were set there six waterpots of stone, after the manner of purifying of the Jews, containing two or three firkins apiece
