DIG for Wednesday the 2nd of July…..recognition of the authority of Jesus is vital…..Luke 7 v 9

I was drawn to the account of the centurion with the sick servant this afternoon; it is an account that I really like and read over and over again.

What impresses me most is the man’s recognition of the authority that Jesus holds.

He had obviously heard Jesus before or was aware of His exploits and recognised that He spoke and operated not only in power but also in authority.

The man recognised that whatever Jesus said would happen; he did not need Jesus to come and see his servant he just needed Jesus to speak out healing.

Jesus spoke out in power with authority and things happened.

For the centurion, the powerful words of Jesus spoken in authority were enough (Luke 7 v 7).

This type of faith was recommended by Jesus (Luke 7 v 9), and this type of faith is required of us today.

There is however another amazing truth with regards to this authority of Jesus.

If you are a born again believer you have that same authority in your life right now.

Jesus said He had all power in heaven and earth (Matthew 28 v 18) and He still has that as He dwells within us.

He also gave us authority to carry out the miracles that he carried out (John 14 v 12), indeed He gives us authority to carry out greater works than He did!

We can speak out as Jesus did and change the physical world with words of power and authority.

However if we do not recognise our authority that power within will not be used.

We must recognise the authority of Jesus and that this authority now resides with us as born again believers.

That is an awesome truth that will help us change our life and change the world if we truly believe it.

Speak this out today…..”Thank you Lord that you have given me the power and authority of Jesus to use right now here on this earth”.

Luke 7 v 9…..When Jesus heard these things, he marvelled at him, and turned him about, and said unto the people that followed him, I say unto you, I have not found so great faith, no, not in Israel

DIG for Tuesday the 1st of July……our inheritance is here RIGHT NOW…..Ephesians 1 v 5

My mother-in-law received a wonderful, but unexpected, inheritance recently; her friend died and left her a reasonable amount of money (as well as her family Bible).

Once the friend died and the will was read out the inheritance was handed over, we all know that an inheritance is not received until someone dies.

We are told in the Word of God that we have been adopted by the Living God (Ephesians 1 v 5).

We are told that as born again believers we have an inheritance from God (Ephesians 1 v 11 and Colossians 1 v 12).

We are also told that this inheritance comes from the riches of His glory (Ephesians 1 v 18).

But we know that someone has to die before we can get an inheritance, and the good news is that someone has died.

That someone was Jesus!

Jesus died, as was written in the Word, and He dealt with all our sin so that through trust and faith in Him and His finished work we could be forgive, reconciled and made righteous.

The death has occurred and the inheritance has been administered.

As believers we already have all that we will ever need, we have already received our inheritance (Ephesians 1 v 3).

We already have been given all the riches of His glory and our “job” is to now know and understand this truth and receive these riches (2 Peter 1 v 3).

Speak this out today…..”Thank you Lord that I am adopted into your family and already have the wonderful inheritance that you want me to have.”

Ephesians 1 v 5…..Having predestinated us unto the adoption of children by Jesus Christ to himself, according to the good pleasure of his will
