I know this is not a nice thing to admit to but I used to think what a stupid question Jesus was asking this man in John 5 v 6.
Here we have a man who was very ill, in a place where healing took place and he had been there a long time (John 5 v 1 to 5).
In this place and in this condition Jesus asked him if he wanted to be healed; I used to think but of course he wants to be healed.
Now that I have been a pastor for a number of years I understand this question.
The sad truth is that not everyone wants to be healed.
Either through wrong doctrine or through fear there are people who do not want to be healed.
Some have been told that their illness is from God, which is of course a lie of the devil.
Some believe that healing stop with the apostles, this is not true either.
Some have their identity and income in their illness.
Jesus appropriated healing for us through His finished work on the cross (Isaiah 53 v 4 and 5 and 1 Peter 2 v 24).
Healing is available for every single person right now!
Are you ill or in pain this evening?
The first question Jesus asks you tonight is do you want to be healed?
If your answer is yes you can ask Him if He will heal you and He will give you the same answer as He gave a leper; I will (Matthew 8 v 2 and 3).
Jesus has already provided for your healing, all you need to do is believe this truth and receive this healing.
Jesus took your illness and pain on the cross because He came to destroy the works of the devil (1 John 3 v 8).
God wants above all else that you live in health and prosperity so healing is available for you right now (3 John v 2).
Speak this out today…..”Thank you Lord that Jesus has provided all the healing I will ever need and I can receive that healing right now”.
John 5 v 6…..When Jesus saw him lie, and knew that he had been now a long time in that case, he saith unto him, Wilt thou be made whole?
