The account of the first Passover is a wonderful picture of the power of the blood of Jesus.
In the first Passover the blood was that of a spotless lamb (Exodus 12 v 5), and the blood was splattered on the side posts and upper posts of the door on the homes of the Jewish nation.
As the Lord went throughout the land bringing His judgement He passed over those homes that had the blood.
He did not look inside the houses at the people; He just looked to see if there was blood on the doorposts.
Those in a home with blood were safe and those in a home without blood were not.
Jesus is our spotless lamb and our Passover lamb (1 Peter 1 v 19).
On the day of judgement if you are “covered” by the blood of Jesus you should have no concerns.
Your sins will not be examined and you will not be checked over to see if you have been good enough to deserve to enter into eternity with the Father.
He will look at you to see if you have been cleansed by the blood of Jesus, to see if you trusted in His Son or not.
If you trusted in Him you will be safe and if you did not trust in Him you will be lost; it really is that simple.
God will not look into you to see your performance, He will look at you to see if He can see Jesus.
The only sin that will send a man to hell is the sin of not trusting in Jesus (John 16 v 9).
The only thing that saved a man at the first Passover was the blood of a spotless lamb and the only thing that can save any of us now is the blood of THE Spotless Lamb that is Jesus Christ.
Trusting in His blood is the only way to salvation, the only way to the Father (John 14 v 6).
The Egyptians and Hebrews could not do anything to effect the outcome of the first Passover, other than trusting in the blood of a lamb.
Praise God that we can trust in the blood of THE Lamb.
Speak this out today…..”Thank you Lord for the blood of Jesus Christ, thank you that it is trusting in this that brought my salvation”.
Exodus 12 v 13…..And the blood shall be to you for a token upon the houses where ye are: and when I see the blood, I will pass over you, and the plague shall not be upon you to destroy you, when I smite the land of Egypt
