When Jesus was in the wilderness He was tempted of the enemy (Luke 4 v 1 and 2).
The enemy did not get aggressive, trying to force himself upon Jesus; no, he tried to sow doubt, unbelief and lies into the mind of Jesus.
Each time Jesus replied by saying, “It is written”.
When the enemy tried to use lies, doubt and unbelief, Jesus replied with truth from the Word of God.
Truth is the thing that will destroy lies, doubt and unbelief.
When a person is being trained to find counterfeit money they do not get to see the counterfeit, they are trained up using real money so that they recognise the fake when they see it.
They become experts in real money in order to recognise the counterfeit.
The same is true for us in that we need to know the truth so that we can recognise the fake (lies, doubt and unbelief) when it comes along.
It is not truth that makes us free; it is knowledge of the truth that makes us free (John 8 v 32).
The enemy will try and sow doubt and unbelief in your mind, trying to get you to believe lies about yourself.
You can counter this by knowing the truth.
For example, if the enemy tries to get you to doubt that God loves you, you can say, “I know that I am righteous and accepted because of the finished work of Jesus”.
Do not let the enemy tempt you with lies, doubt and unbelief, get to know the Word of God so that you too can reply, “It is written”.
Speak this out today…..”Thank you Lord for your Word, thank you that knowing the truth in your Word will make me free”.
Luke 4 v 4…..And Jesus answered him, saying, It is written, That man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word of God
