DIG for Saturday the 8th of November……..do you know what you have in Christ…..Philemon v 6

As believers I am sure that we all know that Jesus died for our sins, we say this often enough.

But do we really know what we received because of this work, His finished work on the cross?

If we are ‘in Christ’ we are born again believers and we need to know what we have ‘in Christ’ because of this.

If we know what we have because of Him we will be able to communicate our faith more effectively (Philemon v 6).

‘Communicate’ in this context means to be in partnership or social intercourse, so it means being in relationship, sharing and telling people about our faith.

If we really understand what Jesus has done and what we have become because of our faith we are more effective in sharing that faith.

I’m sure we all want to be more effective in sharing our faith with friends and family, indeed with anyone that comes across our path.

The way to do that is to really know and understand, have full discernment, about what Jesus has done and what we are in Christ because of our belief in Him.

The truth that we have unconditional and complete forgiveness is part of this knowledge (Ephesians 1 v 7 and Colossians 1 v 14)

The truth that we have already been reconciled to God is part of this knowledge (2 Corinthians 5 v 18 and 19).

The truth that in our born again spirit we have been made righteous and holy is part of this knowledge (2 Corinthians 5 v 21 and Ephesians 4 v 24).

The truth that we are accepted by God and have been adopted into His family is part of that knowledge (Ephesians 1 v 5 and 6).

The way to achieve ‘epignosis’ (or full discernment) is through study and meditation upon the Word of God; so we can say we will be more effective in sharing our faith if we know His Word.

Do you want to be more effective in telling people about your faith?

If you said yes then you need to study and meditate upon Scripture, allowing yourself the opportunity to understand more about every good thing that you have in Christ.

I encourage you to start that process of learning today!

Speak this out today…..”Thank you Lord for your Word, for you Holy Scripture and thank you that it is the way that I learn about what I have in Christ”.

Philemon v 6…..That the communication of thy faith may become effectual by the acknowledging of every good thing which is in you in Christ Jesus
