DIG for Monday the 1st of December…..we are only limited by what we can imagine…..Genesis 11 v 6

Do you have times when the same Scripture comes up again and again over a short period of time?

You read it, someone mentions it, you see it on Facebook; you just cannot get away from the verse.

This is happening to me with Genesis 11 v 6 at the moment.

You’ll know that I often write about the importance of our thought life, but I’ve seldom used this verse in that context, yet it is highly significant.

As the human race we have done some pretty awesome things; we have put a man on the moon, we have eradicated a number of killer diseases, we have written some beautiful pieces of orchestral music (put that one in for my son Jay) and recently we sent a probe out into space for 10 years, travelling 6.5 billion kilometres and landed it on a comet that was moving at forty thousand miles per hour.

Man has done some amazing things.

Yet, every one of these things started with someone thinking, “We can do that”; it started with a thought and with some imagination.

God gave man the power of imagination and thought, and it is very powerful.

Indeed, God said that nothing would be restrained from us if we could only imagine it first (Genesis 11 v 6).

In terms of our brain function and processes we are the same as the people described in Genesis 6 v 11, so we have the same power in our thoughts.

Our thought life can benefit or hamper us in our lives.

This doesn’t just work for the positive but in the negative; if we see ourselves as sick and poor we will end up sick and poor.

We need to start thinking, “I can do that”; we need to remove the word “can’t” from our thought life and from our vocabulary.

Our thoughts can change the direction of our lives.

You may be thinking Vic has flipped with this “mind over matter mumbo jumbo”, and that is exactly what I would have said a few years ago, but I have realised that the power of our thoughts is a basic Biblical principle.

We are what we think is what the Word says (Proverbs 23 v 7), and we can see goodness and greatness manifest in our lives if we can imagine it (Genesis 11 v 6).

Speak this out today…..”Thank you Lord that we were created in your image with the power of imaginative thought, help me focus those thoughts on the positive truths from your Word”.

Genesis 11 v 6…..And the Lord said, Behold, the people is one, and they have all one language: and this they begin to do: and now nothing will be restrained from them, which they have imagined to do
