I haven’t written about my favourite passage of Scripture for a long time now, but I was drawn to it this morning as I was preparing for a Bible study this afternoon.
2 Corinthians 5 v 17 to 21 is for me the perfect description of the Gospel and the finished work of Jesus Christ.
It tells us what He did and it tells us what we are made through what He did.
It clearly shows us that it is the work of Jesus that is important in our lives, not our own efforts and self-righteous works.
It is a wonderful explanation of how blessed we are because of Jesus Christ and His finished work.
And the great thing about theses truths is that the section starts with a marvellous inclusiveness.
“If any man be in Christ” means a believer, a Christian, a person who has trusted in Jesus and made Him their Lord and Saviour.
If you are a believer (or “in Christ”) then verses 17 to 21 are all about you.
You can read the great truths that follow and say to yourself, “that is talking about me”.
You have been reconciled.
You have been forgiven.
You are not having your sins held against you by the Lord.
You are an ambassador for Christ.
You have been made righteous.
Take some time today to read this passage and after every amazing truth say, “that is talking about me”.
Speak this out today…..”Thank you Lord that because of the finished work of Jesus I have been reconciled and forgiven, and as a gift of grace through faith in Jesus I have been made righteous”.
2 Corinthians 5 v 17…..Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are new
