DIG for Monday the 4th of May…..forgiveness: pre cross promises…..Isaiah 43 v 25

The forgiveness of God is a recurring theme throughout the Word of God.

We see the promise of this in the old covenant and confirmation in the new; and we see the delivery of forgiveness at the cross.

God promised that there was a day coming when forgiveness would flow and the sins of mankind would be paid for and forgotten.

This was an awesome promise and something that the old covenant “giants” longed for; David wrote about this, as did Isaiah.

David wrote that there would be a day when God would forgive all iniquity (Psalm 103 v 3) and when the sin of men would be removed from them (Psalm 103 v 12).

Isaiah wrote of a day coming when all the sin of men would be blotted out and that God would remember them no more (Isaiah 43 v 25).

He also wrote that God would choose not to see the sin of man by choosing to place it behinds His back (Isaiah 38 v 17).

This was a promise that God was making, that there would come a day when sin would be paid for and sin would not be the blockage between man and God that it had become.

A day was promised where man and God would be reconciled and forgiveness would flow.

We will of course see in the next few DIGs that God kept this promise.

Speak this out today…..”Thank you Lord that your Word promised a day where we would be reconciled and where I would receive unconditional forgiveness”.

Isaiah 43 v 25…..I, even I, am he that blotteth out thy transgressions for mine own sake, and will not remember thy sins
