God promised under the old covenant that forgiveness was coming and Jesus delivered that promise at the cross.
In the new covenant Scriptures we see this promise confirmed time and time again.
Forgiveness flowed because of the shed blood of Jesus; we read this in Ephesians 1 v 7 and Colossians 1 v 14.
All mankind was forgiven at this point as He paid for all the sin of the world; we read this in 1 John 2 v 2.
Jesus dealt with the sin issue once and for all at the cross; we read this in Hebrews 10 v 12 and 14.
Jesus was the perfect lamb sacrificed for the sin of mankind; we read this in 1 Peter 1 v 18 and 19.
Scripture after Scripture make it clear that forgiveness was given because of the finished work of Jesus Christ, and not because of good works or religious performance.
Our good works and religious acts have nothing to do with our forgiveness. We should not even be asking for forgiveness, we should just be thanking God that it has been delivered.
Forgiveness is a done deal, it was given out two thousand years ago, and post cross Scripture clearly confirms this.
We should never forget this truth; David reminds us not to forget about our forgiveness (or one of our benefits from God) (Psalm 103 v 2 and 3).
Remember that you have been forgiven and celebrate!
Speak this out today….”Thank you Lord that I now live in a state of forgiveness because of the finished work of Jesus Christ”.
Ephesians 1 v 7…..In whom we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of his grace
