DIG for Friday the 8th of May….. met at their expression of faith; the Centurion…..Matthew 8 v 8

One of the expressions of faith that really impresses me is that of the Centurion that we read about in Matthew 8.

He had a sick servant and asked Jesus to heal him, which of course Jesus said He would do (Matthew 8 v 7).

Jesus was going to go to the house, but the centurion said that was not required (Matthew 8 v 7).

He said all that was required was for Jesus to speak out healing, and this is his awesome expression of faith.

He did not need Jesus to go and lay hands on the man, he didn’t need Jesus to come with him, he just needed the words of Jesus.

This is an amazing example of faith for us today, and of course, it was amazing back then.

Jesus said that He had never seen such an expression of faith before (Matthew 8 v 10).

Today we have the Word of God, but this is not enough for some people.

Sometimes we need an experience to help raise our levels of faith, when actually all we need is to believe the Word.

I’m sure you are the same as me in that the Word is enough for some parts of my life and for whatever reasons not enough in others.

This does not condemn me and should not condemn you, it just means that our expression of faith is not quite at the level of the centurion.

We can work on this, with regards to understanding and believing the Word more.

But the great thing is that even if we are not at that level Jesus will meet us where we are (see more tomorrow).

Speak this out today….”Thank you Lord for your Word, and thank you for the truth held within your Scriptures that has the power to change my life”.

Matthew 8 v 8…..The centurion answered and said, Lord, I am not worthy that thou shouldest come under my roof: but speak the word only, and my servant shall be healed
