DIG for Monday the 18th of May……desire wisdom and knowledge, it is like treasure…..Colossians 2 v 3

I am really excited at the moment getting ready to head into a conference with a number of great teachers of the Word.

I find it so exciting to learn more from the Word, to learn about Jesus and His wonderful finished work.

Treasure is a word that would describe learning from the Word.

This is how Paul described wisdom and knowledge about Jesus in his letter to the Colossians.

He says that wisdom and knowledge about Jesus (and also about the Father) are treasures.

Treasure is something that men long for, hunt for and search for.

If only men would do the same thing with God’s Word; if only they would search it for the treasure hid within.

There is another verse that tells us why this knowledge and wisdom is so important.

In his second epistle Peter writes about the knowledge of Him (or Jesus,) saying that it is understanding this knowledge that allows us to manifest all that we need for life and godliness (2 Peter 1 v 3).

If you were told you could have all you needed for life (and the implication of this word is life in abundance) and godliness wouldn’t you want it?

Wouldn’t you be willing to search for it?

Well you can, you can search the Word for the treasure that is wisdom and knowledge of Him!

Speak this out today…..”Thank you Lord for your Word, and thank you for the treasures of wisdom and knowledge hid within”.

DIG for Sunday the 17th of May…..nae limits; that should be the Christian life…..Philippians 4 v 13

As we were driving down the A9 yesterday we passed an outdoor activities centre called “Nae Limits” (nae is the Scottish word for no).

I love the name of this business, and enjoy seeing it every time I pass.

It brings up the image of being able to do anything, of nothing stopping you, of there being no limits in life.

This is what it should be like in our Christian life.

God has given us authority and power in this life; authority from Jesus and the power of the indwelling Holy Spirit.

This should take the limits off us in terms of healing, peace, joy and prosperity.

God wants us all to live in health and abundance (John 10 v 10 and 3 john 2); He wants there to be nae limits in these areas of our lives.

Paul wrote that he could do all things through Jesus, and we are the same.

We have the same authority as Paul and the same power as Paul, we are born again believers just as he was.

We can live a life without limits if we believe and understand His Word; understand that we have authority and understand that we have power.

Speak this out today…..”Thank you Lord for the authority and power that we have in this world, and help us to remove our own self-made limits”.
