DIG for Thursday the 4th of June…..being sovereign does not involve being in charge of everything…..Mark 3 v 14 and 15

Some of you may be struggling with some of what I’ve been writing the last couple of days with regards to the sovereignty of God.

Let me try and make things clearer by using an earthly example.

In the UK we have a Queen who is said to be our Sovereign, she is sovereign over the nation and over her kingdom.

She does not have full control over everything in the UK however.

The real power and authority in the UK is in the hands of the government, an elected body of men and woman who have been granted power and authority from the sovereign Queen.

The Queen has delegated the power and authority in her kingdom to others, and now they have to yield that power and authority in her name.

This is what it is like in the Kingdom of God.

Yes, God is Sovereign, but He has delegated certain powers (along with authority) to believers.

In Mark 3 we see Jesus delegating the power and authority for healing and deliverance over to His disciples; He sends them out to heal the sick and cast out demons (Mark 3 v 14 and 15).

Today we are His disciples and we have that same mandate from God to heal and deliver.

In terms of healing God has told us to heal the sick, He does not require to decide any more if healing is to take place or not.

Through the finished work of Jesus God has healed us all, but it is down to us as disciples to believe this for ourselves and for others.

God has made His decision about healing and is not “involved” now; it is down to us to lay hands on the sick and see them recover.

God does not decide if healing takes place or not; He decided that two thousand years ago making his “sovereign” decision then.

God does not pick and choose whom to heal and who to leave in sickness as Calvinist theology around the topic of the sovereignty of God would tell us.

We can be assured that He wants us, and all others, to live in health and abundance (John 10 v 10 and 3 John 2).

It is down to us to decide what we want to do with healing.

We can either believe what God’s Word says and accept the power and authority and start laying hands on people or we can ignore that power and authority and do nothing.

It is up to us not up to God!

Speak this out today…..”Thank you Lord that you have given every single one of us as born again believers the power and authority to heal the sick”.

Mark 3 v 14 and 15…..And he ordained twelve, that they should be with him, and that he might send them forth to preach, And to have power to heal sicknesses, and to cast out devils
