Reading the account of Jesus appearing once again to the disciples really made me smile this afternoon (John 21).
Some of the disciples were in a boat fishing and heard and saw Jesus on the shore.
As the disciples came ashore what did they find?
Jesus had the barbeque on (John 21 v 9).
The coals were ready and the fish were cooking.
This says so much about Jesus.
He was interested in all the issues of the lives of His disciples, and that is still true.
He wanted to see to all the needs (including the physical) of His disciples, and that is still true.
He was ready and willing to “sit down” with His disciples in relationship, and that is still true.
He loved spending time with His disciples, and not always for deep teaching and training, and that is still true.
He enjoyed serving His disciples, and the same is true today.
Put very simply, He loves His disciples, and the same is true today.
In the context of the day you only had a meal with real friends and with people you wanted to deepen your relationship with; this is the picture of what Jesus is doing on the beach that day.
The same is true today; He is your friend and wants to deepen His relationship with you.
OK, it is true that He cannot cook a meal and eat with you, but He wants to spend time with you through your prayers, meditations and reading of His Word.
Spend time with Jesus today, and deepen that relationship, this is want He wants from you.
Speak this out today…..”Thank you Lord for Jesus and thank you that He wants to deepen His relationship with me today”.
John 21 v 9…..As soon then as they were come to land, they saw a fire of coals there, and fish laid thereon, and bread
