DIG for Wednesday the 10th of June…..a family tree to be proud of…..Acts 1 v 1 and 2

The Book of Acts is the link between the Gospels and the Epistles, a book written by Luke telling the “story” of the early church.

It is a great example of what can be done by ordinary men and woman of God; ordinary people operating under the authority of Jesus and with the power of the Holy Spirit.

In that sense they are exactly the same as we are, if we are a born again believer baptised in the Holy Spirit.

Acts starts telling us that Jesus began teaching and doing great things (Acts 1 v 1).

It goes on to say that this should continue with the apostles whom He has chosen (Acts 1 v 2).

Now some interpret this to mean the apostles alive at the time, however I do not see it this way.

My interpretation is that this is meant for all born again believers, even those alive today.

And yes that includes you!

What Jesus started you can continue right here and right now.

I do not see anything in Scripture telling us to stop what Jesus started.

There is a doctrine that says that miracles and signs and wonders stopped with the apostles from the book of Acts.

If this is the case why does that doctrine not include teaching in the list of things that ceased with the Acts apostles?

Teaching still goes on does it not, so the rest if what Jesus did carries on as well.

You are in a long line of “apostles chosen by Him”, chosen to teach and do the things that He did.

This is an unbroken line right back to Jesus; now that is a “family tree” to be proud of.

If you have been born again (and I am assuming that as you are reading this DIG) and if you have been baptised in the Holy Spirit (if not get in touch and we can discuss) you are able to carry on what Jesus and then the apostles of the Book of acts did.

Yes, you can heal, you can deliver from bondage, you can cast out demons; you are able!

Speak this out today…..”Thank you Father God for the authority from Jesus and the power of the Holy Spirit, allowing me to do mighty things this day”.

Acts 1 v 1 and 2…..The former treatise have I made, O Theophilus, of all that Jesus began both to do and tech, Until the day in which he was taken up, after that he through the Holy Ghost had given commandment unto the apostles whom he had chosen
