DIG for Tuesday the 16th of June……why have we managed to get it so wrong about revival…..Mark 16 v 15 to 18

Revival, revival, revival; there is so much talk about revival I thought I’d look in the Word and see what it says.

I hear people in church asking and pleading for God to send revival.

I hear people singing about waiting for God to come with revival.

I hear people asking for God to send the “fire down” for revival.

Interestingly I heard a great teacher the other day saying that we should not ask for God to send His fire down, as every time He did in the Bible people died!

So what does the Word, and especially the part of the Bible we know as the New Covenant say?

Well, it says nothing, yes, absolutely nothing; there is no mention of the word revival in the New Covenant or indeed in any of the Word.

I believe that revival is a man made concept and idea developed to explain the apparent lack of movement by God in an area or country.

I believe this doctrine of revival is a pitiful excuse to take responsibility from believers and put it back onto God.

God told us to preach the Gospel, to see people saved and disciple, to heal the sick, to cast out demons.

The things that He told us to do are what we expect God to do in revival.

Revival is already inside every single one of us who is a son of the Living God.

God has already done His job through Jesus Christ and that work is finished.

The work on earth that many want to see come through revival has already been delegated to us here on earth.

And we have been given the authority from Jesus and the power of the indwelling Holy Spirit to do all the things that we have been requested to do.

It is about time that we as a church stopped begging and pleading, waiting for God to send revival, and got out there and did what we were told to do.

Revival is not for God to send, revival is for us to do.

I heard another preacher say that if we would just raise some people from the dead we would have all the revival we could handle.

Let’s stop waiting and thank God instead for all that He has given us so that we can begin to understand what we already have through the finished work of Jesus Christ.

Speak this out today…..”Thank you Lord for the authority from Jesus and the power of the Holy Spirit that I have to do mighty works on this earth”.

Mark 16 v 15 to 18…..And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature. He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned. And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues; they shall take up serpents, and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover
