DIG for Tuesday the 7th of July….you are a new creature, there are therefore no generational curses on you…..2 Corinthians 5 v 17 and Galatians 3 v 13

In our bible study last night we were discussing an example of what I call “dodgy doctrine”, with this one being generational curses.

I’ve heard this doctrine many times and seen people having generational curses broken off them, with much theatrics generally involved.

I agree that we see this type of curse in the bible, but always under the old covenant, always before Jesus came and dealt with sin and curses.

Jesus not only took our sin but also took curses on His body and dealt with them (Galatians 3 v 13).

When we became born again and trusted in the finished work of Jesus Christ we became free from the effect of sin and also the effects of curses as the old was removed and made new (2 Corinthians 5 v 17).

But Vic we see our brothers and sisters suffering the same as their parents and grandparents, surely this shows us that generational curses are valid now?

No, this is not the case; what we are seeing is the result of learned behaviour and the effects of an unrenewed mind.

People may need ministry in these areas, but what they require is discipleship and teaching in order to renew their minds so that they see transformation in their lives (Romans 12 v 2).

What they do not need is someone “making” a scissors with their fingers in order to “cut off” generational curses!

If I am wrong in this area I would be happy to change my doctrine, so would be willing to read examples of new covenant scriptures showing us how to cut off generational curses, but I don’t know of any!

What I do read is 2 Corinthians 5 v 17, Galatians 3 v 13 and Romans 12 v 2, so that is how I will operate in this area; what about you?

Speak this out today…..”Thank you Lord for the finished work of Jesus Christ, and thank you that I am not under any generational curse today”.

2 Corinthians 5 v 17…..Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new

Galatians 3 v 13…..Christ hath redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us: for it is written, cursed is every one that hangeth on a tree
