In Acts 5 we see some of the apostles being put in prison in order to shut them up; they had been preaching the good news about Jesus and His finished work and the religious establishment did not like this.
But the Lord did not want the apostles to be quiet so He arranged for them to be set free, but they were set free for a purpose (Acts 5 v 19).
They were told to go and speak out the word of this life (Acts 5 v 20).
I find it interesting that they had to speak the words of this life and not just life.
This is because so many Christians live as if waiting for the next life, waiting for things to be great in Heaven.
Life is meant to be lived now, down here on earth; life on earth is not a waiting game to be struggled through before we head into Glory.
Jesus came that we might have life and have it more abundantly (John 10 v 10).
We have been set free; free from the bondage of the law into grace, free from death into life.
And our job is the same as the original apostles.
We are to speak out the words of this life.
We are to speak out that God loves us, has forgiven us, has reconciled us and wants all to come to repentance and be saved; He wants all to live in health and abundance.
That is the Gospel, the good news, what we are to tell the entire world.
The finished work of Jesus Christ has put in place a mean for all to be saved, made whole and live an abundant life; that is what we have been set free to speak out.
Speak this out today…..”Thank you Lord that you have set me free, help me to speak out the truth of abundant life”.
Acts 5 v 19 and 20…..But the angel of the Lord by night opened the prison doors, and brought them forth, and said, Go, stand and speak in the temple to the people all the words of this life
