I stared a preaching series on Galatians this morning in church and looked at the first few verses of this epistle.
In his greetings Paul gives a most amazing description of the Gospel in a single verse.
He says Jesus gave himself for our sin, in order to deliver us from this present evil world, and that this was the will of the Father.
That is an amazing verse, and an amazing truth.
There is so much in this verse, but to me it is a wonderful description of the gospel of grace.
The great thing for me is that it talks of why Jesus came and performed His work; it was not for our ticket into Heaven, it was not only to bring us salvation.
His finished work ensured that we could have health and abundance; that is what deliverance from this present evil world means.
He came to destroy the works of the devil, in other words to deliver us from the evil of this age (1 John 3 v 8).
He came to bring us abundant life, in other words deliver us into what God has for us (John 10 v 10).
The other marvellous truth is that this was the will of God, His Father and our Father.
Once we believe in Jesus and His finished work we are delivered from the evils of the enemy and delivered into the Lord’s family.
Deliverance from this evil age includes “removal” from illness, disease and poverty.
Above all things God wants each of us to live in health and prosperity (3 John 2).
This is the Gospel, this is good news!
Speak this out today…..”Thank you Lord that you want me to live in health and abundance, and you have provided for this through the finished work of Jesus Christ.
Galatians 1 v 4…..Who gave himself for our sins, that he might deliver us from this present evil world, according to the will of God and our Father
