DIG for Thursday the 12th of November…..He did not cause the storm, but He can calm it…..Luke 8 v 24

In the Bible study this evening one of the guys spoke about Jesus being in the boat with the disciples while a storm was raging about them (Luke 8 v 23).

He rebuked the storm and it went away (Luke 8 v 24).

This shows me two things; Jesus had the power to calm storms (that is obvious) but it also shows that He did not cause the storm.

Jesus said He wanted to go to the other side, yet this storm came to try and stop them.

Why would Jesus want to stop His own progress?

Jesus came to destroy the works of the devil, so the storm was the work of the devil as Jesus clearly destroyed it (1 John 3 v 8).

Jesus was physically with the disciples in this case when He calmed the storm.

Jesus is no longer with us physically but He can still calm the storm through our words and actions.

We have the indwelling Jesus in the form of the Holy Spirit so we have the same power that calmed the storm with in us right now.

We can calm the storms that the enemy sends against us.

The enemy sends storms in order to steal, kill and destroy what we have through the finished work of Jesus; we can live an abundant life by speaking out in the name of the indwelling Jesus and destroying the storms (John 10 v 10).

Are you in a storm right now?

Would you like Jesus to deal with it?

OK, speak out in faith and belief and tell that storm where to go!

Speak this out today…..”Thank you Lord for the indwelling Holy Spirit, thank you that I have the power that calmed the storm in me right now”.

Luke 8 v 24…..And they came to him, and awoke him, saying, Master, master, we perish. Then he arose, and rebuked the wind and the raging of the water: and they ceased, and there was calm
