DIG for Tuesday the 1st of December…..He is coming…..Isaiah 9 v 6

Well, it is that time of year again, whether you like it or not the build up has seriously started for Christmas; I say seriously as it seemed to start way back in October this year!

The main “point” of Christmas was lost years and years ago.

Even though it is based upon a pagan festival (before some of you clever clogs have a go at me), Christmas used to be a celebration of the birth of Jesus; it is now a celebration of materialism.

As we head rapidly towards Christmas it is a time to think of why He came, what He came to do and how much He loved us.

It is not a time to ponder what type of new phone we want and how big the turkey needs to be.

So in the run up to Christmas I plan to write a DIG each day reminding you of who Jesus was and what He came to do.

We will look at Scripture that tells us about Jesus, and tells us what His mission was for His time on earth as a man (John 1 v 14).

The Bible is full of prophecies about the coming of Jesus; we will look at some of these.

There are Scriptures pointing to Him being the Messiah, and the Saviour; we will look at some of these.

And yes, for all you Migdal Eder “groupies” we may even look at where He was born!

Speak this out today…..”Thank you Lord for Jesus, thank you that He came and thank you that in this run up to Christmas I will force myself to think about Jesus”.

Isaiah 9 v 6…..For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace
