Isaiah 9 v 6 is a verse describing Jesus, telling us what He would be like when He came.
We are told in this verse that He is the mighty God.
He is a strong and mighty God, He is part of the Godhead and He is God.
Many people (including theologians) say that Jesus is not God; He was a good man, a great teacher, and amazing prophet, but He never was and never claimed to be God.
This is nonsense; Jesus was God and told us so!
In John 8 we read about Jesus’ claim to be God.
In a discussion with the Jews Jesus was talking about Abraham and they said that Jesus could not have seen him, as he was not yet fifty (John 8 v 57).
Jesus replied and said that, “before Abraham was, I am (John 8 v 59).
Jesus might just have said, “I am God”, because that is what He meant.
This was a direct reference to when God appeared to Moses and said, “I am”.
The Jews knew perfectly well what Jesus was saying as they went on to try and stone Him for His “blasphemous” remarks (John 8 v 59).
Jesus knew what He was saying and Jesus was claiming to be God.
He would go on to show that He was also strong and mighty; He would go on to fulfil Isaiah 9 v 6 with regards to being the mighty God.
Jesus was and is God, never let anyone tell you otherwise.
Speak this out today…..”Thank You Lord that Jesus, our mighty God, came and dwelt among us as a man”.
Isaiah 9 v 6…..For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace
