DIG for Monday the 7th of December…..peace, but not on earth….Isaiah 9 v 6

Now, I’m sure I’ve written about this on a number of occasions, but here it goes again!

One of the things that really annoys me at Christmas is cards with “peace on earth” written on them.

Jesus was described as Prince of Peace in this verse in Isaiah, but He did not come to bring peace on earth.

He did come to bring peace, but it was peace between man and God that He was interested in.

Jesus came so that we might be reconciled to His Father (2 Corinthians 5 v 18 and 19).

When Jesus came peace came as well, but this peace was goodwill toward men from His Father (Luke 2 v 14).

Jesus did not come to bring world peace; if He did He failed big time!

He was the Prince of Peace in terms of bringing peace, or goodwill, from His Father.

Jesus came to bring about reconciliation between man and God and in that mission He was a complete success.

Jesus dealt with all sin for all men once and for all time on the cross; He was the propitiation or payment for the sin of all mankind (1 John 2 v 2).

With sin dealt with there is no issue between man and God and there is now peace.

Speak this out….”Thank you Lord that Jesus was the Prince of Peace, and thank you that he brought reconciliation and peace”.

Isaiah 9 v 6…..For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace
