In my old job I used to do a fair amount on interviews, and this involved looking at the odd CV.
When I was doing this I was looking for the person with the most skills, the best qualifications, the person most equipped for the job.
In doing this I seemed to be doing the exact opposite of what God does when he looks for people.
This verse in Corinthians says he picks those who are not wise, mighty or noble (at least He doesn’t call many of these).
He does not go for the one with most intelligence, most strength or most standing in society
For God the heart of a man is more important than skills; God wants to work with a man of honesty, integrity and character.
These qualities cannot be taught, but if a man has these attributes God can equip him with the rest.
God does not interview and then pick the best candidate; he picks the person for the job then equips them!
Joseph (as a slave) did not look the best person for his job, but that turned out well.
Paul (as a religious zealot called Saul) did not look the best person for his job, but that also turned out OK.
God has a job for you and you may feel that you are not equipped; that is a great place to be as you are among great company!
If He has picked you, He will equip you.
Speak this out today…..”Thank you Lord that you have a plan and purposed for my life and thank you that you have put in place ways to equip me for this”.
1 Corinthians 1 v 26…..For ye see your calling, brethren, how that not many wise men after the flesh, not many mighty, not many noble, are called
