I had the privilege yesterday of sharing some valuable time with a lovely old lady who is very poorly at the moment.
As I was about to leave for some lunch I leaned in to give her a hug.
“Say a wee prayer for me darling”, was her request.
I had been praying at her bedside, however there and then I whispered a quick and quiet prayer into her ear.
I spoke out peace and rest I think, among other things.
My friend visibly relaxed, her breathing became deeper and her whole body became more peaceful; it really was wonderful to see.
My friend; never let anyone say prayer does not work, that prayer is a waste of time.
In this context my prayer was speaking out over a person, speaking good things into their life and that is as valuable a prayer as anything.
Death and life are in the power of the tongue, and we have the power to speak goodness into the life of a person (Proverbs 18 v 21).
Powerful prayer is not about shouting, about length and it is not about using King James English; it can be quiet and it can be short, but it needs to be positive and assertive.
I heard a preacher saying that the most powerful prayer is “help”; let me tell you, another very powerful prayer is telling another human being, “I’m here to help”.
Speak out good things today; bless someone with a wee quiet prayer this morning.
Speak this out today…..”Thank you Lord that death and life are in the power of the tongue, I choose to speak out life today”.
Proverbs 18 v 21…..Death and life are in the power of the tongue: and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof
