At the men’s breakfast this morning the chap giving us a talk about Arab World Ministries said something really profound that made me think.
Talking about various Arab countries he mentioned that Egypt had an early Christian presence when Jesus was a refugee there.
Jesus as a refugee, now there’s an amazing revelation, but of course this is true.
Mary and Joseph, taking Jesus, left their own country due to persecution and had to stay in a foreign land until their homeland was safe (Matthew 2 v 14).
This is something we should have in our mind when we form opinions and speak out about refugees coming into our country.
Jesus Himself pointed out how we should think about our fellow man; after loving the Lord our God we should love every other person as ourselves.
Love for our fellow man does not mean love for those who look like us, talk the same language and live in the same country.
I saw a t-shirt on the Internet recently saying, “Love thy neighbour; your black neighbour, your homosexual neighbour, your divorced neighbour, your drunk neighbour”, and I could go on and on.
We do not have a choice about whom we are supposed to love; our neighbour includes every person in the world.
As Paul wrote to the Galatians, we are to do good unto all (Hebrews 6 v 10).
I agree that this verse does talk especially about believers, but it does say all.
And all includes refugees!
Speak this out today…..”Thank you Lord that Jesus was the ultimate example of how we should love one another”.
