DIG for Monday the 18th of January…..what a powerful declaration…..Galatians 5 v 1

Many of you may know that I have been preaching through Galatians for almost 3 months now, and have just reached one of my favourite verses; a verse that I use continually.

Stand fast in grace and do not give in to law (Galatians 5 v 1).

Well, that is not exactly the translation that you will see in your Bible but that is what this verse means to me.

Grace provides you freedom, freedom to live in abundance and health (not freedom to sin as some my tell you).

Law provides you bondage, bondage to religious performance and self-righteous works leading you into guilt and condemnation.

Paul strongly advises the Galatians (and you) to stand fast in liberty, that is grace.

Stand fast in the liberty that Christ has provided for you through His finished work on the cross.

We have all that we need in this life (spiritual and physical) through the work of Jesus (Ephesians 1 v 3 and 2 Peter 1 v 3).

There is no longer any requirement for us to work to be blessed by God; the truth is that once we realise how much we are loved and how much Jesus has done for us we will do plenty of these things that the church calls good works.

We do works from being blessed, we do not work to be blessed.

Trying to work to be blessed is law and is the bondage that Paul talks about here.

Working out of love and an understanding of what he has done is grace and is what Paul calls freedom.

You can be fully free this morning by living from grace instead of law.

Speak this out today…..”Thank you Lord that through the finished work of Jesus and faith in this I am now living under grace”.

Galatians 5 v 1…..Stand fast therefore in the liberty wherewith Christ hath made us free, and be not entangled again with the yoke of bondage
