The storm was raging, the boat was sinking and the disciples were afraid for their lives (Matthew 14 v 24).
Then Jesus appeared walking on the water and the disciples were even more afraid Matthew 14 v 25 and 26).
Jesus then said (and I paraphrase), “Take courage and be bold, it is I; do not be afraid” (Matthew 14 v 27).
Jesus was telling them that they had a choice; they could be courageous or they could be in fear.
By saying, “be” He was telling them they had the choice; He did not say you are in courage or in fear, He said be courageous or be fearful.
They had the choice.
They had the opportunity to be courageous for one very good reason, and that reason was that Jesus was with them.
We are the same today.
Whatever we are going through we have the choice to be courageous and bold or to be in fear, and we can be without fear as we have Jesus with us.
Through the Holy Spirit, we have Jesus in our lives right now.
In any and all situations He is telling us to choose between courage and fear, hoping that we choose to be in courage through His presence.
Speak this out today…..”Thank you Lord that in every situation I face today I am in the presence of Jesus through your Holy Spirit”.
Matthew 14 v 27…..But straightway Jesus spake unto them, saying, Be of good cheer; it is I; be not afraid
