So much of what we read in Scripture follows this pattern –
- God promises a provision in the Old Testament
- Jesus works for the provision in the Gospels
- We read that the provision has been made in the New Testament Epistles
Take healing for example, a topic that we have been looking at recently.
In Isaiah 53 v 5 we see God promising that He would provide healing.
In the Gospels we see Jesus showing us the example of how to heal and then provides full healing for us through His finished work on the cross.
And then in 1 Peter 2 v 24 we read that we have already been healed through this finished work.
Promise, provision and confirmation; that is what we see in Scripture.
God said He would heal, Jesus heals and then Scripture confirms that today we are healed.
In Matthew 8 we read about Jesus healing Peter’s mother-in-law, as I wrote yesterday this confirmed Isaiah 53 v 5.
Jesus was the Messiah and He came to heal, but He also provided healing for all that were to come after Him through His death and resurrection.
He was whipped and lashed at His crucifixion, and we know that by His stripes we were healed.
He took all our infirmities and sickness on His body on the cross, just as He did with sin; if He dealt with sin (as we all say) then He also dealt with sickness.
A deeper understating on this awesome truth will lead to us seeing healing made manifest in our bodies.
Speak this out today…..”Thank you Lord for the finished work of Jesus and thank you that by His stripes I am healed”.
Matthew 8 v 17…..That it might be fulfilled which was spoken by Esaias the prophet, saying, Himself took our infirmities, and bare our sickness
