DIG for Thursday the 28th of April….the ‘prosperity gospel’ is the Gospel…..John 10 v 10

There is a little bit of controversy brewing in Scotland at the moment, with the leader of one of our Scottish denominations getting rather upset that Creflo Dollar is coming over here to preach.

Now I quite like the idea, I think it is good for people to listen to different teachers.

The church leader in question however is very annoyed that Creflo is coming to preach his ‘prosperity gospel’, seeing it as blasphemy against the Lord.

My reading of the Word is similar to Creflo’s and not in line with the Moderator of the Free Church of Scotland.

I see what is known as the ‘prosperity gospel’ as the Gospel; the Word talks about abundance and prosperity as being for the believer.

Jesus said He came so that we might have an abundant life (John 10 v 10).

We can read that above all things the Lord wants us to live in prosperity and health (3 John 2).

Jesus came and became poor, in monetary terms, so that we might be made rich, in monetary terms (2 Corinthians 8 v 9).

I agree that prosperity and abundance is not for spending on our own lustful wants, however the Word is clear that prosperity and abundance is part of the sozo (or salvation) package.

We are not meant to be poor; we are meant to be prosperous, so that we can give unto all good works (2 Corinthians 9 v 8).

The Gospel includes prosperity and abundance, and also health and wholeness; Jesus died so that we could have an abundant life.

Speak this out today…..”Thank you Lord for the abundant life that I can have because of the finished work of Jesus Christ”.

John 10 v 10…..The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly
