I saw a program on Netflix recently about plastic surgery, where people were spending thousand of dollars to alter their appearance and as most of them admitted to change their life for the better.
They were using money to try and change what they thought of themselves and to increase their self-esteem and self worth.
I know a much cheaper way to do that than spending your money on plastic surgery; it is called the Word of God.
In the words of the Psalmist the Word of God (or as he called it in his time the law of thy mouth) is more valuable than lots of gold and silver, more valuable than any amount of money (Psalm 119 v 72).
God’s Word is the key to a successful and profitable life; this is clearly what the Word of God says about itself.
No amount of money can make you healed and whole, truly prosperous to live an abundant life, but the Word of God can.
No amount of money can make you happy, joyful and at real peace, but the Word of God can.
Money is not the answer to our problems, the Word of God is.
The Word of God is better than ‘thousands of gold and silver’.
I am not advocating that we do not need money, we do, and I teach that due to the finished work of Jesus we can expect to be prosperous.
However we are not to love money, we are to love the Word of God.
What do you truly love today and what do you want more of in your life, money or the Word?
