DIG for Sunday the 10th of July…..faith in the power of Jesus, there’s the key…..Luke 9 v 22

It is very interesting that some of the most powerful encounters Jesus has with individuals are with women.

I think this is wonderful, given the culture of the day that the Bible was written in!

In this encounter the woman goes to Jesus, at other times we see Him going to the woman.

This poor woman, ill and desperate, pushes through the crowds to get near Jesus in order to touch Him (Luke 8 v 43 to 48).

She showed perseverance and determination; she could have been stoned for being in this place where she would make others unclean by simply touching them.

Her life was in danger at this point, yet she pressed on and did what she had to do; she touched the hem of His garment.

And she was healed, hallelujah!

Jesus said that it was her faith that healed her and that is true.

She also did what she had to do in order to see her healing.

She had faith in Jesus and His power and also had the faith that if she touched Him she would be healed.

So, she pressed on, pushed in, never giving in to fear or doubt and saw her healing made manifest.

We can all learn something from this dear daughter.

Speak this out today…..”Thank you for the healing power of Jesus, thank you that by His stripes we have been healed”.

Luke 9 v 22…..But Jesus turned him about, and when he saw her, he said, Daughter, be of good comfort; thy faith hath made thee whole

DIG for Saturday the 9th of July…..give to receive; just doesn’t make sense…..Proverbs 11 v 24

Much of what we read in God’s Word seems to not make sense; it seems to go against the way things work in the world.

Take Proverbs 11 v 24 for example.

This says that if want your resources to increase you should give away some of what you have.

It does not say you should save everything and put away your resources in order to increase.

If you give away or scatter you will receive more back; this is just the principle of sowing and reaping that we read about in other parts of the Word.

For instance if we are a cheerful giver (2 Corinthians 9 v 7) God will be able to make sure we have sufficient (v 8) and be enriched in every thing (v 11).

It is like a farmer after having a harvest of barley in the autumn for example.

If he plants or scatters some of his seed in the spring instead of storing it up (or eating it all) he will see an increase in his resources the next harvest.

Sowing and reaping is a natural principle, it is also a Biblical principle.

Our world says keep what you have for yourself, save it up and store it away, hoard it for a rainy day; the Word of God says that this mindset will lead to poverty, exactly the opposite of what the world says.

The Word says be generous with your resources and you will see an increase in what you have.

Speak this out today…..”Thank you Lord for your Word and thank you for the principle of sowing and reaping”.

Proverbs 11 v 24…..There is that scattereth, and yet increaseth; and there is that withholdeth more than is meet, but it tendeth to poverty
