As a teacher of the ‘grace message’ I constantly hear brothers and sisters complaining about the ‘prosperity gospel’.
I think there is a real misunderstanding about this in the church as prosperity (and abundance) is a provision made through the finished work of Jesus.
Prosperity, life in abundance, is part of the Gospel.
We read that God the Father, above all things, wants us to live in health and prosperity (3 John 2).
Jesus came that we might live in abundance (John 10 v 10), and this abundance and provision was provided through the cross.
Through faith in Jesus we are saved and saved (the Greek word sozo) means healed and prosperous as well as a ‘ticket into heaven’.
Prosperity for the believer is part of the sozo package, along with healing.
Faith in Jesus provides us with our initial salvation and faith in Jesus provides our continued salvation, with regards to health and prosperity.
There is nothing wrong with wanting to be prosperous, just think of all the things you could do or the Kingdom with more resources.
Not wanting to be prosperous is actually a form of selfishness.
We are made prosperous for a reason and that is to further the Kingdom, that is what being prosperous is all about.
Speak this out today…..”Thank you for the finished work of Jesus and thank you for the abundance and prosperity that this provides.”
2 Corinthians 8 v 9…..For ye know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that thou he was rich, yet for your sakes he became poor that ye through his poverty might be rich
