Most Sunday morning you will hear me preaching about the finished work of Jesus Christ in some form or another.
Sometimes however I just cannot get my head around the enormity of this statement, the finished work of Jesus.
For a start He was the Son of God yet God Himself.
Since before time He was in the splendour of Heaven yet His love for me was so large that He became flesh and dwelt among us (John 1 v 14).
And as a man He suffered the most brutal death in order to bring me reconciliation and forgiveness (1 Corinthians 5 v 18 and Ephesian 1 v 7).
What a work, a perfectly perfect and finished work.
Another amazing truth is that He did this for every single man that has ever lived.
Yes, He did it for you!
God Almighty became a man and suffered so that you could come into relationship with God the Father, that is truly amazing.
As well as thinking about what He did I often ask this simple question, why?
He did this because of love, He loves me and He loves you.
Take some time this afternoon to ponder these truths and tell yourself that God loves you so much that it pleased Him to crush, pulverise and mutilate the body of His Son (Isaiah 53 v 10).
Speak this out today…..”Thank you Lord for the finished work of Jesus Christ”.
