DIG for Wednesday the 26th of October…..only sing good words, sing New Covenant words…..Proverbs 18 v 21

I’ve written before about how certain worship songs impact on my life, and these are always songs with appropriate lyrics.

I say this as the tune, the chords and melody should not ‘make’ a good worship song.

It is the words that are important, we should be singing Biblical lyrics or at least words that are uplifting and encouraging.

Take my latest ‘favourite’ for example…

Sickness can’t stay any longer, Your perfect long is casting out fear

You are the God of all power, And it is Your will that my life is healed (Healing is Here by Deluge)

These are good words; these are from the Word of God.

Perfect love casts out all fear (1 John 4 v 18) and it is the will of God that we live a life of healing (3 John 2).

These are good words to sing out over your life; remember death and life are in the power of the tongue (Proverbs 18 v 21).

These are good words to sing out over the lives of others.

I know of some lovely tunes that are used in church but they have lyrics that should not be uttered by a New Covenant believer.

Surround yourself with good worship songs, with New Covenant lyrics that will edify, exhort and encourage.

It is important what we say, so it is important what we sing in worship.

Don’t sing nonsense and don’t sing about old covenant principles that are now passed away!

Speak this out today…..”Thank you Lord that death and life are in the power of my tongue and thank you that I can choose to only sing appropriate words”.

Proverbs 18 v 21…..Death and life are in the power of the tongue: and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof
