Jesus is our supreme example of how to serve people, we have seen that in the last couple of DIGs.
In the account of washing the disciples’ feet we learn a valuable lesson of who we should serve.
If we follow the example of Jesus we have to serve everyone, including our enemies.
In john 13 we see Jesus washing the feet of all the disciples (John 13 v 5 and 12).
There were no exclusions, all the disciples had their feet washed by Jesus.
This included Judas Iscariot, the man who had betrayal in his heart (John 13 v 3).
Jesus knew this (John 13 v 4), yet He still washed the feet of Judas.
Jesus washed the feet of a man who at that time who was thinking (and then went on to act) more like an enemy then a disciple.
What does this show us about who we should serve?
Well, it shows we should be prepared to serve our enemies.
It shows that we cannot pick and choose whom we shall serve and whom we will miss out.
Jesus was the example of how to serve, if we truly want to follow Him we need to serve all people, including our enemies.
Speak this out today…..”Thank you Lord that we can look to the example of Jesus and see how to serve our neighbours”.
John 13 v 12…..So after he had washed their feet, and had taken his garments, and was sat down again, he said unto them, Know ye what I have done to you?
