When you look at the list of the ancestors of Jesus at the start the book of Matthew, what do you see?
A long list of difficult names that are hard to pronounce possibly?
Maybe a list of amazing and perfect people that were ‘usable’ by God?
What I see are a list of people with issues and problems and failings, just like you and me.
I see people willing to make themselves available to God, listen to God and obey God even in the midst of their issues and concerns.
I see David, a murderer and adulterer, yet still a man after God’s own heart.
I see Abraham, a man willing to lie to save his own skin, yet a man who followed the Lord and started the ‘Christian nation’ that we are part of today.
I see Solomon, a man who built the first temple to the Lord, but also a man who gave in to idolatry.
I see ordinary people, with problems and issues and struggles, yet people who did some amazing things, including being in the genealogy of our Lord Jesus.
I see you and I see me.
Like me you will have difficulties, problems, struggles, things that you give into that are not the best that the Lord has for you.
But at the same time, we have the potential to do wonderful things for the Lord, if we listen, trust and obey.
Never think of yourself as someone who can never be used by the Lord, remember He used liars, drunkards, murderers, prostitutes and cheats.
The Lord can use us and He has a plan and purpose for every single one of us; never forget that truth.
Speak this out today…..”Thank you Lord that you have a plan and purpose for my life, a plan and purpose that I can achieve”.
