Yesterday I wrote about the power of the words of Mary, indeed the power of all our words.
There is another example of this earlier in the gospel of Luke.
When Zacharias was told that his wife was going to have a son he did not believe it.
He was told that he would not be able to speak until the things he had been told had come to pass (Luke 1 v 20).
Why did this happen?
It happened so that Zacharias would not speak out his doubt and unbelief and put a stop to what was going to happen.
You see our words are very important.
The words of Mary put her into the midst of the plan and purpose of God.
Zacharias obviously did not believe and was not allowed to speak out doubt and unbelief.
Our words have the same effect, we can put ourselves into the plan and purpose God has for us or we can remove ourselves.
Death and life are in the power of the tongue; this is a verse we should all know very well.
Mary spoke out the truth and it happened, Zacharias stayed quiet so that it would be possible to happen.
We need to think carefully about what we say, and yes, sometimes we should just keep quiet.
Speak this out today…..”Thank you Lord for the truth that death and life are in the power of MY tongue”.
Luke 1 v 22…..And when he came out, he could not speak unto them: and they perceived that he had seen a vision in the temple: for he beckoned unto them, and remained speechless
