DIG for Wednesday the 7th of December…..Joseph believed God and then obeyed…..Matthew 1 v 24

We all know that if we listen to God we need to do what we hear Him saying.

This seems obvious but all too often we pray to God, hear what He says and then do something different.

Joseph heard from God and then did exactly what He said, even when it seemed quite outrageous.

God told Joseph that Mary would have a baby even though she was a virgin and he believed Him.

God told Joseph to keep Mary as his wife instead of ‘putting her away’ and he did as requested (Matthew 1 v 20 to 24).

God told Joseph to take his family away to Egypt; he believed the Lord and once again did what he was told (Matthew 2 v 13 and 14).

God told Joseph to take his family back home from exile once it was safe and once again Joseph obeyed (Matthew 2 v 19 to 21).

We do not see a lot about the life of Joseph in the Word, but what we do see is 100% obedience from him.

Joseph heard from the Lord and did what the Lord asked; this is the perfect example of obedience.

I do not think that the Lord only spoke to Joseph during this time, Joseph must have learned to recognise the voice of the Lord through previous experience.

I think Joseph had a relationship with God that allowed him to know the voice of God.

And it is this that allowed him to be 100% obedient in these difficult times.

This is a perfect example of how we should be in relationship with God.

Speak this out today…..”Thank you Lord that as we move into relationship with You we will learn to recognise Your voice”.

Matthew 1 v 24…..Then Joseph being raised from sleep did as the angel of the Lord had bidden him, and took unto him his wife
