I have been meditating once again about the importance of the words that we speak out over others and ourselves.
This has come about through reading again the accounts of Zacharias and Mary.
I also was struck by what Elisabeth was seen to do after she became pregnant.
Elisabeth did not announce her pregnancy to the world; she actually hid herself away (Luke 1 v 24).
Elisabeth actually hid herself away for fie months.
This was enough time so that when she ‘came back into circulation’ it would be evident to everyone that she was indeed pregnant.
People like to say, “I’ll believe it when I see it”; a statement of doubt and unbelief.
I imagine lots of people would not believe that Elisabeth was pregnant while she still had a flat tummy, but after five months they could not do anything but believe she was pregnant.
Elizabeth hid herself away from the words of doubt and unbelief that people would have spoken over her.
She knew she was pregnant and did not want to take the chance of encountering words of doubt and unbelief, thus showing us the power of negative words.
Her husband was not allowed to speak out doubt and unbelief but I’m sure there were plenty of others to take his place.
So Elisabeth did what she had to do and removed herself from negative words.
Speak this out today…..”Thank you Lord that we know that death and life are in the power of the tongue”.
Luke 1 v 24…..And after those days his wife Elisabeth conceived, and hid herself five months, saying…..
