DIG for Monday the 30th of January…..they both sat down when they were finished their work…..Hebrews 10 v 12

I quite often just randomly open my Bible and see where it lands!

I did that this morning to Hebrews 10 and I had a memory flashback to about forty years ago.

In the house I lived in as a child we had a wood burning stove in the kitchen, and a lot of the household activity centred around this stove.

I saw my Dad coming in from work in the evening and sitting in the battered armchair that sat right next to the stove.

He would take his boots off and enjoy a cup of tea while Mum served up his dinner (he generally ate on his own coming in later in the evening).

He would sit at the table and after finishing his meal he would sit in his armchair in the living room.

Why am I telling you this?

Well, after finishing a hard day of work my Dad would sit down!

And the verse I read this morning was Hebrews 10 v 12.

Jesus performed an amazing and wonderful work on the cross and after that was finished He sat down at the right hand of God (Hebrews 10 v 12).

Many people are still expecting the Lord to “do something” for them but the work of Jesus is finished.

He has done all that is required to do for us to live in abundance and for us to choose salvation.

His work is finished and He is seated, just like my Dad in the evening at home.

Speak this out today…..”Thank you Lord for the finished work of Jesus and thank you for all that I receive as a gift of grace through faith in the finished work”.

Hebrews 10 v 12…..But this man, after he had offered one sacrifice for sins for ever, sat down on the right hand of God
