DIG for Tuesday the 28th of February…..are we throwing stones…..John 8 v 7

One of my favourite pictures in the Word is when Jesus shows His compassion with the woman “taken in adultery”.

It is also a picture of how we should behave.

The woman is thrown at the feet of Jesus by religious zealots, and probably quite a few “hangers on” just there to see what is going on.

Jesus asks the mob to cast the first stone if they are without sin themselves.

Of course nobody throw a stone and they soon dispersed.

This shows no-one is better than anyone else.

We are all born into sin, we all fall short of the glory of God.

Even once we are born again we still fall and do stupid things (i.e. we still sin).

No-one is perfect so no-one can judge anyone else; or we should not!

Yesterday I wrote about us as believers being in the same family.

We all make mistakes, we should all cut each other some slack, and we should all give our brothers and sisters a break

I am not excusing sin, indeed there are verses telling us to help our brothers and sisters out of sin, but this has to be done without judgement and accusation.

Speak this out today…..”Thank you Lord that you do not condemn us, help us do the same for our brothers and sisters”.

John 8 v 7…..So when they continued asking him, he lifted up himself, and said unto them, He that is without sin among you, let him first cast a stone at her
