At the Bible study last night we sang the song called “Jesus He Loves Me” once again (see DIG from Sunday 5th of March).
And as before this song spoke to me in a deep way.
The focus of this song is the love Jesus has for us, not our love for Jesus.
This reminded me of something that my great friend Dave Feldman says; “The man of law boasts of his love for God, but the man of grace boasts of God’s love for him”.
The first time I heard Dave say that it really touched me in a significant way.
Yes, it is good to know that we love God and we can speak of this and sing about it in our worship songs.
However when we are “boasting” it should be about the love God has for us; we should be boasting about God and not about ourselves.
Grace is all about what God has done for us and law is all about what we think we have to do; that is why I love Dave’s comment so much.
We can love Him because He first loved us is what the Word of God says (1 John 4 v 10).
If you want to boast about something then let it be how much God loves you and loves all mankind.
Tell people about God’s great love for them, tell them about what God has done for them through the finished work of Jesus.
Law turns people off the Lord but grace turns them toward Him.
Speak this out today…..”Thank you Lord that you loves us and that we now live under grace and not under law”.
1 John 4 v 10…..Herein is love, not that we loved God, but that he loved us, and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins
