DIG for Tuesday the 2nd of May…..you have a new identity…..2 Corinthians 5 v 17

2 Corinthians 5 v 17 is a verse all about our identity; a verse aimed at believers telling them who they now are in Christ.

This is also a verse about inclusiveness, as no believers are missed out.

The verse says any man who is in Christ; that means any person who is a believer (having trusted and put their faith in Jesus) is included in whatever is written about next.

So this has nothing to do with performance or works it is all to do with faith.

This verse dies not say any man who tithes or prays or does good works for example.

Once we are born again (or in Christ) we are “a new creature”, which is what this verse says.

Now this is obviously talking about our spirit man, as we know when we were saved our body and soul (mind, will and emotions) did not pass away prior to being created new.

Our old spirit man with its sin nature passed away and our spirit was created brand new.

This spirit was created in righteousness and true holiness (Ephesians 4 v 24).

And this happened for every believer, or every man as the Word says.

No one is missed out of this wonderful change in identity.

Every born again believer is righteous and holy, and every Christian is a saint.

You can personalise this verse just like I have done and speak put this truth, “I am in Christ and a new creature: the old has passed away and I have been created new”.

Speak this out today…..”Thank you Lord that my spirit has been created new in righteousness and true holiness”.

2 Corinthians 5 v 17…..Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold all things are become new

DIG for Monday the 1st of May…..I love studying what I think I already know…..2 Corinthians 5 v 21

We all have verses or passages in the Bible that we think we know really well.

We all have our favourite passages that mean a lot to us.

I was reminded of one of my favourite passages in Scripture the other night at the Bible school and have been prompted to study this again.

It is a good idea to study verses that we think we know, as we can never know everything there is to understand about Scripture.

The Word is alive and vibrant and can bring us new revelation every time we read it, especially if we “tune in” to the Holy Spirit at the same time.

So I have decided to look once again at the passage that includes the verse that truly changed my life.

Once I realised that I was righteous my life changed.

An understanding of our righteous ness is one of the fundamental truths that we build our life upon.

We are made righteous as a gift of grace through faith, not through any works of our own.

We can be made righteous because of the finished work of Jesus.

We have the possibility of righteousness due to our forgiveness and reconciliation because of the shed blood of Jesus.

This passage will tell us what happened to us, what occurred so that we could be made righteous.

I hope you are as excited about the upcoming DIGs as I am!

So come with me on a journey as we study out 2 Corinthians 5 v 17 to 21.

Speak this out today…..”Thank you Lord that I have been made righteous as a gift of grace through faith in the finished wok of Jesus”.

2 Corinthians 5 v 21…..For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him
