Paul was a writer who did not mince his words, especially when he wrote to the Galatians.
He had heard that legalists and Judaisers, telling the Galatians that they had to rely on things other than faith in Jesus for their salvation and blessings, were infiltrating the church.
This sent Paul “off the deep end”.
Paul knew that faith in Jesus was the one and only requirement for salvation.
This was the Gospel, the good news of the finished work of Jesus Christ.
Anything other than what he had taught after revelation form the Holy Spirit was not the Gospel, and it was not another gospel.
There was and is only one true Gospel, the Gospel of grace.
Religious performance (as required by the legalists and religious zealots) was not required, and it is still not required.
Paul is writing this letter to us today my friend, with this threat alive and well today just as it was back then.
Paul knew the need of keeping the Gospel pure and simple; anything added or taken away was the work of man or the enemy.
There is only one Gospel, the same Gospel that Paul preached to the Galatians, Ephesians and the whole of the early church and this is the Gospel we have and need today.
Don’t add anything to the finished work of Jesus, other than your faith.
Galatians 1 v 6 and 7…..I marvel that ye are so soon removed from him that called you into the grace of Christ unto another gospel: Which is not another; but there be some that trouble you, and would pervert the gospel of Christ
