DIG for Tuesday the 6th of June…..don’t be snared by the enemy…..Psalm 91 v 3

One of the things that I really do not like are ‘blood sports’ and cruel hunting techniques.

I used to be a member of the RSPB and used to hate the stories in their magazine about illegal bird traps.

Illegal trappers used to use snares that would catch a bird by the feet and keep it there until they could come along and kill it.

This is what the Psalmist is referring to when he says the ‘snare of the fowler’.

They were cruel and designed to kill, and this reminds me of what the enemy has in store for us if he is allowed.

The enemy wants to steal, kill and destroy what you already have through the finished work of Jesus.

He wants to steal, kill and destroy your health, wealth, joy and peace.

He wants so snare you as he hates what Jesus has done for you.

He hates your abundant life, he hates your prosperity and he wants to steal, kill and destroy these amazing gifts.

Stay in the Lord’s protection, under His wings, and enjoy these benefits, these birth rights.

The Lord is your protector and is more powerful than anything the enemy can throw at you.

Rest in Him and enjoy His benefits!

Speak this out today…..”Thank you Lord that I can be assured that I am protected from the work of the enemy”.

Psalm 91 v 3…..Surely he shall deliver thee from the snare of the fowler, and from the noisome pestilence

DIG for Wednesday the 7th of June…..there is no place for fear in this life…..Psalm 91 v 5

My friend, do you know that there is no place for fear in the life of a born again believer?

You may be thinking, “But there are lots of dangerous things out there Vic, how can you say that?”

Danger is a fact of life, but fear is a thought process that we choose.

I don’t often quote the actor Will Smith in my DIGs, but he said this, “Fear is not real. It is a product of thoughts you create. Do not misunderstand me. Danger is very real. But fear is a choice”.

If we focus on all the bad things in the world (like the seemingly endless terrorist attacks) we could live in fear.

However if we choose to focus on the mercy, compassion and love of Jesus we will not have a place in our thoughts for fear.

Perfect love (and that is Jesus) casts out all fear (1 John 4 v 18).

Yes, danger is real but fear is a choice.

In Psalm 91 we have been looking at how we can come under the shadow of the Lord, into His protection, and of how we can abide in Him.

In this place the Psalmist writes there is no fear in the day and no fear at night (Psalm 91 v 5).

In other words we can live a life at all times without fear.

If we rest in him and trust in Him, if we focus on His perfect love we can live a life free from fear.

But we have to choose to rest there, to abide there, in order to change the thoughts we have.

Make this choice today; choose to kick fear out of your life.

Speak this out today…..”Thank you Lord that you have provided a way for me to live a life free from fear”.

Psalm 91 v 5…..Thou shalt not be afraid for the terror by night, nor the arrow by day
