DIG for Monday the 12th of June…..Jesus also knew the importance of the Word of God…..Luke 24 v 27

Yesterday in DIG I wrote about the role of the Word in helping with our discipleship; indeed the Word is fundamental in the process of us knowing the truth.

Jesus also knew the importance of the Scriptures, the importance of the Word of God.

As He was being tempted in the wilderness He used the Word three times to defeat the lies of the devil (Matthew 4 v 4, 7 and 10).

On the road to Emmaus Jesus used the Word to show the believers who He really was (Luke 24 v 27).

When the disciples of John the Baptist asked Jesus if He really was the Messiah, Jesus pointed them to the Scriptures that He had fulfilled (Matthew 11 v 3 to 6).

Jesus knew that the answers He and others needed were in the Word.

He needed this to refute the devil and the others needed the Word to see who He really was.

The same is true today.

We need the Word as much as Jesus did.

We can use the Word to tell the devil where to go with his lies and we need the Word to reveal the truth about whom Jesus is and what He has done.

Are you better than Jesus in thinking that you don’t need the Word of God?

I don’t see them so often now but do you remember the “WWJD” wristbands that people wore?

I’ll tell you what Jesus would do; He would use the Word of God and I recommend that you do the same!

Speak this out today…..”Thank you Lord for your Word and thank you for the freedom we had to read and listen to your Word”.

Luke 24 v 27…..And beginning at Moses and all the prophets, he expounded unto them in all the scriptures the things concerning himself
