DIG for Saturday the 24th of June…..a new season, how exciting…..Lamentations 3 v 22 and 23

This is a rather exciting time of the year for me; the new football (or soccer) season starts today with Forres Mechanic’s first pre-season friendly.

The start of a new season is always exciting; could this be the year we win the league again, could we win a cup this year, could this be a great season?

The trouble is (or has been for most of the seasons I have been a supporter), is that this enthusiasm and excitement wears off after a few games!

The same is not true however of the things of the Lord.

Lamentations talks about His mercies, compassion and faithfulness being new every morning (Lamentations 3 v 22 and 23).

It is as if a ‘new season’ starts every time we arise, with His mercy, compassion and faithfulness being new.

We may have used up a lot of His mercy and compassion the previous day, but as we arise it is as if His supply or resources have not been touched.

The same is true of His love, healing and prosperity.

We may have used some if His healing powers the day before, but as we arise for a new day this healing power is still there and still just as powerful as it ever was.

The resources of God are infinity and can never be used up.

His goodness never wears off and His mercy, love and compassion are never reduced.

We will never be disappointed in the performance of the Lord (unlike that of our favourite sports teams).

Speak this out today…..”Thank you Lord that your mercy, your compassion and your faithfulness re never ending”.

Lamentations 3 v 22 and 23…..It is of the Lord’s mercies that we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not. They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness
